12-05-2018 Dizzy Special: Harrison Young sings Chet Baker 30 Years Memorial
12 May 2018 @ 21:30€5,00
Dizzy remembers Chet Baker (1929-1988). On May 12th 1988 he played his last tunes at a Dizzy. Later he died falling from a hotel window in Amsterdam. Chet Baker was the Keith Richards of jazz music, a genius trumpeter (and singer) who is often remembered as an example of the typical jazz ‘lowlife’. Most of the time he was on alcohol and drugs, spent moths in jail, but still managed to deliver some incredible tunes, great recordings and live performances. Chet Baker sang like he played the trumpet: full of melancholy with lot of air and a deep intimate touch.
Singer (and trombone player) Harrison Young (USA-NL) will host a memorable evening at Dizzy and bring together some great players to pay trubute to this legend. Line-up TBA. Tickets: 5 euro (all tickets for the band).
