13-03-2019 Dizzy Moon 17: Anne Bakker & Lwela Kasulwe
13 March 2019 @ 21:30
17th edition of singer-songwriter series Dizzy Moon, hosted by Mark Ritsema and powered by Popunie. Free entrance.
Lwela Kasulwe grew up in the Congo where he put his first musical steps in church. He moved to Rotterdam where he played with the African band Furaha. In 2016 his first singer-songwriter album Nipe Suluhisho was released, containing an equally sultry as hard hitting mix of jazz, soul, roots and African influences. In his lyrics, which he sings in Swahili and Lingala, Lwela strives for a fairer world, but also does not shy away from more personal subjects.
Anne Bakker is a Rotterdam based singer-songwriter and violin/viola player who is active in a wide range of musical genres. She worked and toured world wide with many artists, such as Göksel Yilmaz Ensemble, Kristoffer Gildenlow, Machinefabriek, Banabila, Bob Zimmerman, Celine Cairo, Baba Zula, Greg Haines and La Boutique Fantastique.
Last year she released her first EP Vox/Viola, on which she combines her voice with the deeper sound of the viola, creating a well crafted balance between neo-classical, folk and pop. Songs that only gain in depth as she performs them live with just vocals, viola and effects.
