23-05-2018 Dizzy Moon 01: Dax + Aileigh Awad
23 May 2018 @ 21:00
Dizzy Moon presents Dax + Aileigh Awad (Bear Valour). Free entrance. First concert starts at 21.00h.
Dax Niesten is a Rotterdam based musician and visual artist. In her music, paintings and video clips she creates a world of her own, somewhere in-between Lewis Carrol and Syd Barrett. Almost child-like songs, with a touch of art brut, that evolve like sinister fables with mysterious melodies and unearthly drones of delays and voices. No surprise that her (digital) debut album My Bubble Is A Kind Of A Mess (2018) and singles like Love Is Overrated and The Bear found a worldwide base of listeners on Spotify.
Aileigh Awad is the singer, songwriter, guitarist and banjo player of Bear Valour. Recently this Rotterdam based folk band debuted successfully with their album In October. Awad’s pastoral songs are fueled with romanticism and dark beauty, sung in a clear, melodic voice that never ceases to touch you deeply. At this exclusive solo-concert she will be accompanied by Bear Valour guitarist Josha Stribos.
is a new singer-songwriters’ series at Dizzy, presented by the Rotterdam based musician, songwriter, journalist and writer Mark Ritsema. Dizzy Moon aspires a broad approach of the genre: folk, jazz, rock. electro…anything goes, as long as the music is revolved around well crafted songs, to listen to and to be touched by. The series will start in July on the first and third wednesday of the month, preceded by a few ‘pilots’ in May and June, in collaboration with Popunie, Music Matters and North Sea Round Town.
