Come enjoy the Try out of MidWeek Mono this Summer at Jazzcafé Dizzy, where a fine selection of solists are invited to work their Mono Magic on our stage. The artists are allowed to use everything present on our stage and are welcome to add anything they want to enhance their performance except the accompaniment of others. The artist will either present their work in two parts or as one whole during this evening.
Tonight you can enjoy the work of Ishtar Bakhtali.
Ishtar is a vocalist implementing Indian classical music elements, jazz, electronics and Latin influences in her narrative compositions.
By combining live looping of the voice, small percussion and prerecorded soundscapes she creates compositions in her solo performance.
As working interdisciplinary is a big interest Ishtar often composes for/ and accompanies contemporary dancers with her live music. Lyrics are often inspired by nature and travel and ranges from playful and groovy to contemplative and melancholic.
Attracted by the intricate melodies and rhythmic patterns from Carnatic music, Ishtar studied with teachers within Europe, at Codarts university and India.
She has been and is active in various projects playing in different European countries and got selected to play in the finals of Erasmus Jazz Prize 2022 with ‘Ishtar Quartet.’
