Born and raised in Rome, Andrea De Luca began his musical journey performing regularly in the city’s venues, such as the late Big Mama. His early influences were Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Johnny Winter. After discovering the Lap Steel guitar thanks to Ben Harper, Andrea honed his self-taught skills, mastering this instrument alongside the traditional six-string guitar.
Andrea’s unique style blends a gritty and aggressive vocal tone with refined guitar technique, particularly evident in his masterful use of the Lap Steel. This instrument, rarely seen in the hands of Italian artists, has become Andrea’s trademark, allowing him to explore uncharted sonic territories.
In recent years, Andrea has intensified his recording and live performance activities. Memorable performances include the showcase concert on March 25, 2022, at Studio Miriam in Rome, opening for Johnny Winter in 2014, and Victor Wooten in 2018.
He plays instruments from renowned brands like Bill Asher’s Electro Hawaiian, with whom he has developed a relationship of mutual affection and respect since their first meeting in 2017 at Bill’s workshop in Los Angeles, California.
