Bonnet Christensen Quartet

Patrieck Bonnet and Casper Christensen were inspired by the sounds of Grant Stewart, Stan Getz, Peter Bernstein and Doug Raney, among others. With melody and groove in the right proportions, they show how music that is firmly rooted in tradition can still be urgent.

Saxophonist Patrieck Bonnet (1992) played with, among others, Dutch the Peter Beets New Jazz Orchestra and released his debut album ‘Hommage’ on Zennez records in 2021. His tonal spectrum ranges from “bright in your face to a tender heartbreaking timbre.” According to reviewer Eddy Determeyer.

Guitarist Casper Christensen (1993) is one of the rising stars in the Danish Jazz scene. He has worked with, among others, Eric Ineke, Phillippe Soiret and Bob Gullotti. Casper tours a lot in Europe and has worked on many releases such as ‘Montezuma’ in 2017, ‘Portrait of a day’ and ‘Stardust’ in 2022.

The rhythm tandem is formed by Cas Jiskoot and Imre Kruis. Cas is so much in demand that the list of artists he plays with is probably already behind when you read this piece. Still an attempt: Scott Hamilton, Benjamin Herman, Ana Serierse and John Engels. Imre Kruis is a drummer “with a swing of the pushy kind, and I mean that in a positive way.” (Eddy Determeyer again). He hosted the Reken Maar van Jazz concerts with Marius van den Brink for years and worked with JazzArt, the Glenn Miller Orchestra and Millennium Jazz Orchestra, recently with Randy Brecker.

Casper Christensen and Patrieck Bonnet join forces. No mix of styles or crossovers this time. There has to be some swinging, without sensationalism. A story of their own, with one hand firmly in tradition and the other sufficient for what is to come. In February 2025 the quartet will tour the Netherlands, followed by album recordings.
