Helbe Machado
He officially began his career in 1996, but in 1989, he had already participated in the album Litoral by his father, the great drummer, César Machado. Son, grandson and nephew of great musicians, he was influenced by this super musical family from an early age. He started at the Carlota Portela jazz dance academy, where he worked for three years, and then went on to study at the Villa Lobos School of Music, where he graduated in symphonic percussion. There he performed in the Orquestra de Música Popular da Escola de Música Villa Lobos, where he remained for four and a half years, visiting numerous cities in Rio de Janeiro.
With this orchestra, he recorded the first “Method for Orchestras” in Brazil, an innovative work containing parts of the recorded songs, and exercises for all the sessions. Continuing his career, he recorded his first solo CD entitled: SUINGUE PESADO, in the spring of 2018, performing launch shows in 2019 at Centro da Música Carioca, Blue Note Rio and Triboz, then a mini launch tour in Europe, in 2020 he was a finalist at the Radio Mec Music Festival, and also a guest on the Cena Instrumental program on TV Brasil, in 2023 he was invited by the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, to be a local artistic producer and drummer, in the commemorative video for International Jazz Day, representing Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, for which the song was chosen to open the video.
And at the end of 2024 he released the CD BATUQUE DE DOIS, together with his father and great drummer Cesar Machado, and starting 2025 he released Sinergia, with some partnerships, and also playing on important stages such as the Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Sala Cecília Meirelles, Sala Baden Powell, Circo Voador Canecão, Teatro SESC Ginástico, Blue Note Rio, Ungelt Club, Reduta Jazz Club, 38Riv, Reigen Live, Peppi Gugenhein, B Flat, Sala Funarte, Teatro da Caixa in Curitiba, Teatro Municipal de Niterói among other concert venues in Brazil and Europe.
