Linea Generale took shape during the Nuoro Jazz seminars in 2023. Recognized individually as the “best participants of the 2023 edition,” the six young musicians immediately felt a special connection among themselves, a key element for this to translate into musical harmony. Not only will they have the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Nuoro Jazz Festival in 2024, but they will also receive a scholarship to support their artistic development and the evolution of their repertoire.
Key elements of Linea Generale’s music include improvisation and the lyricism of their compositions. Stylistically, they draw inspiration from Bill Frisell and Lee Konitz.
The name “Linea Generale” is an ode to the Dutch director Pieter Jan Smit and to the group’s first concert, that took place not on the Italian peninsula but in Rotterdam, in the company of the aforementioned director.
