Micheal Murray is an award winning saxophonist based in Amsterdam. The 27 year old saxophonist comes from Donegal, Ireland. He has been referred to as a ‘rising star’ of Irish jazz,
and since beginning his professional career has performed with international artists such as Jason Rebello, Lucian Gray, and Phil Robson, and has studied with some of the worlds most renowned saxophonists and musicians such as Tommy Smith, Ben Van Gelder, Andy Middleton and
Jaleel Shaw.
He leads the project Micheal Murray’s Colourfield, winners of the prestigious Keep an Eye Records 2024. This project pursues a sound that is the culmination of deeply personal influences from life, music, art and poetry. This idea influences everything from the contribution of the individuals to the composition process, always trying to keep the focus on the universal shared values of music that is held by the group. The group is led by Micheal Murray and features some of the great young artists of the Netherlands in Joy Shechter, Omer Govreen and Wouther Kuhne. After winning the presitigious Keep an Eye Records 2024, the band will record their debut album this year.
