Sade Tribute
English-Nigerian singer Sade broke through in the 1980s with her debut album “Diamond Life.” Her unique, warm, soulful, jazzy sound, layered with groovy drums and percussion, wrapped around a warm tenor sax like a snake, made an immediate impression. Sade is a prime example of her own unique sound, conveyed in every song with meticulous detail. Tracks like “Smooth Operator,” “Hang On to Your Love,” “Is It a Crime,” and “The Sweetest Taboo” have been sung along to for generations worldwide. Her albums are still selling, and her music continues to inspire many musicians and music lovers.
The evening will be hosted by Nina Yip Simone de Looff, named after Nina Simone. Raised on jazz, soul, and rap, her one dream from a young age was to become famous and be honored! Her desire to follow her dream is immense. Meanwhile, she performs throughout the Netherlands, goes to the studio, and studies jazz vocals at the Conservatory. She wants to perform internationally with jazz and pop-soul repertoire. But first, here in Rotterdam, a tribute to one of her greatest inspirations, Sade!
