Some time ago, saxophonist and Boy Edgar Prize winner Jasper Blom crossed paths with an Even’de H9000R, the world’s most advanced harmonizer effect device. He combined this copy, which was last used for the David Bowie opera Lazarus, with a Maestro Sound System for Woodwinds, a vintage effects bank of approximately 40 years old. Behind this combination of effect equipment there appeared to be a world of sounds that offered fantastic orchestral possibilities.
In the words of Jasper Blom: “For the first time in my life I wanted to start my own big band.” No sooner said than done, Blom gathered the cream of the crop of young jazz talent around him and selected a number of favorite Ellington compositions with them and wrote arrangements for sextet and H9000R harmonizer.
