Kasyfi Kalyasyena is a 22-year-old talented jazz pianist and composer from Indonesia. Kasyfi has lived in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, since 2020. He came to the Netherlands to study jazz music more deeply at Codarts Rotterdam, while also aiming to start his career in the Netherlands.
Currently, Kasyfi has been busy playing with different groups, such as the Kasyfi Kalyasyena Trio/Quartet, Femke Mooren Quartet, Jadi Peperzak Quartet, and some other ongoing projects. In his own group, Kasyfi likes to tell stories through his own compositions, which are imbued with the colors of traditional jazz and modern jazz. His style of music can be considered calming, funky, and burning at the same time.
Before coming to the Netherlands, Kasyfi had already started his career in music in 2016. He began by being a house band in hotels, cafes, and restaurants, growing his audience in some jazz communities in Indonesia, and performing at prestigious jazz festivals such as Jazz Goes To Campus, Java Jazz Festival, Ubud Village Jazz Festival, and North Sea Jazz Festival.
