The cavaquinho entered Luis Firmino’s life in 2014 as a gift from his father, a simple gesture that would come to deeply shape his artistic path. Already experienced on the acoustic guitar, the transition came naturally. Yet it was only in 2018, during his time in Algarve, that its true potential was revealed.

As a street musician in cities such as Olhão and Fuseta, Luis began exploring the cavaquinho as a solo voice, discovering its power to capture the attention of passersby and transform public spaces into moments of genuine connection. This became one of the most defining periods of his journey, marked by freedom, discovery, and a direct, authentic relationship with the audience. It was also during this time that his first original composition, “Graças”, was born: a manifestion of gratitude for the path he had taken, for music, and for all those who stopped to listen.

The cavaquinho would later become central to the creation of the collective Acácia Maior, where Luis further affirmed his talent as a composer through works such as “Amor Astral”
