BIO Manuel Weil (Extended):
Graduated as Jazz Music Bachelor from the Conservatorio Superior de Música Manuel de Falla in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he developed musically with some of the best musicians and professors in the Argentine and South American jazz scene, such as Sergio Verdinelli, Eloy Michelini, Ernesto Jodos, Hernán Merlo, among others.
He also took lessons with international references such as Rich Perry, Billy Hart, Joe Lovano, Willie Jones III, among others.
In addition, he studied some years of classical/academic music composition at the Conservatorio Juan José Castro in Buenos Aires.
In contact with music from an early age, he maintained a constant training as a drummer, as well as a guitarist, composer and arranger.
Last year he released his first solo album, “Simplificar” (2023). He also took part in the recording of several albums as a collaborator or “sideman”, such as Theo Naishtat, Federico Solomiewicz, Tomás Di María Quintet, Zafira Quintet, Julia Di Paolo, among others.
He has played with great masters and referents of jazz and creative music in Argentina: Marcelo Gutfraid, Pablo Moser, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Noel Morroni, Hernán Merlo, Andrés Hayes, Theo Naishtat, Nataniel Edelman, Federico Solomiewicz, Martín Proscia, among others.
He has performed in important venues and music cycles in Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina, such as the Centro Cultural San Martín, Centro Cultural 25 de Mayo, Prez Jazz & Music Club, Virasoro Bar, MACBA Jazz (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires – this series of concerts was declared of cultural interest by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires), La Feria del Libro de Buenos Aires, Borges 1975 Espacio Cultural, Notanpuan, Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional and Paraphernalia Jazz, among others.
He has also excelled as a sessionist in various genres during his professional career in Argentina.
Currently based in Madrid, Spain. There he shared the stage with local musicians such as Sean Clapis, Yonatan Voltzvok, Jorge Manzano, Luciano Gonzalez Avishai Ornoi, among others.
During November of the current year he will be participating in different concerts in The Netherlands.
