The Jonas Linnemann Quinteto makes adventurous contemporary jazz with Brazilian influences. The special composition of violin, harmonica, classical 7-string guitar, double bass and drums creates a surprising new sound. Quinteto plays its own work, composed especially for this line-up by Jonas Linnemann. These original compositions have strong grooves alternating with powerful improvisations as ingredients.
Jonas Linnemann is a versatile drummer, percussionist and composer. As co-leader of the internationally acclaimed formation StarkLinnemann, he recorded nine albums for his own label UCM records. As a freelance drummer he has collaborated with many renowned “jazz” artists. His creative process as a composer is deeply influenced by ethnic music and rhythms from around the world, as well as classical music. His career highlights include sold-out performances in the Alexandrinsky Theater in St.Petersburg, The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Artist in Residencies in Karthoum and Juba.
